Since recently subscribing to a number of clean fantasy authors’ newsletters, I’ve come across a disappointing trend. A lot of clean fantasy books have really unimpressive covers. You know the old adage “don’t judge a book by its cover,” and that’s great in principle, but when it comes to books, readers really do judge books by their covers. Worldbuilding: Festivals & Holidays

With the holidays coming up, and Thanksgiving in only two days, I thought it would be fitting for this week to write a post about holidays and celebrations.

To be entirely honest, festivals are something that I don’t work hard enough at in my worldbuilding. I’m a fairly lazy person, something that I aim to overcome, and that can sometimes translate into my worldbuilding. Festivals and holidays can be difficult to develop, but they’re easier if you have a starting point. That starting point is what I’ll attempt to give you in this post. NaNoWriMo Update Week 3

NaNoWriMo Update Week 3

Before I continue, I need to give you an update… on my updates. I’m going on a two-week vacation starting today, so I won’t have updates again until December 4th. I still have posts scheduled between now and then, but my update posts will have a void because I wrote them all yesterday. Another couple of updates: There won’t be a short story on the third, and I’m starting an advent series for December, so for every day until Christmas I’ll have a poem, flash fiction, or post related to Christmas or winter.
